Bre-nancy and the 13 Plantains.

In Literacy we have been looking at dramatic conventions. Here is Javarne's play script based on the story 'Bre-nancy and the 13 Plantains'


Bre-nancy and the 13 Plantains
Scene 1: In the house Ma-nancy and Bre-nancy are arguing about who should get food.
Ma-nancy:   Bre-nancey get out of the house and get food for me and the children. Don’t make me use this broom!
Bre-nancy: But me nuh have nuh money!
Ma-nancy:   Well get some.
Bre-nancy:  It’s not fair! (sulking)
Ma-nance chases Bre-nancy out of the house with the broom.
Bre-nancy:  Ok I’m going!
Ma-nancy slams the door
End of scene 1
Scene 2: On a dusty road Bre-nancy sees Reggie the bush rat holding lots of plantain.
Bre-nancy: Reggie where did you get all of that plantain?
Reggie:        That a me hard working salary
Bre-nancy: Reggie Can I have some?
Reggie:        No way man!
Bre-nancy:  Please, just for my kids and my wife.
Reggie:        Ok, only this once.
Bre-nancy takes 13 plantains and goes home.
End of scene 2      
Scene 3: Back in the house
Bre-nancy:  Me come back wife with some food.
Ma-nancy:   Me a come.
Bre-nancy:  See here, 13 plantains, enough for you and the kids.


Ma-nancy cooks the plantains and serves the family. There is no food for Bre-nancy so he just sits there with a sad face.
Child1:        Do you want some of mine Dad?
Bre-nancy: No, it’s yours
Child1:        Do you want some? It’s ok.
Bre-nancy:            Well if you insist then yes!
Child2:      Have some of mine.
Child3:        and mine.
Child4:        and some of mine!
All the children give their Dad half of their plantain.
Ma-nancy:  But wait! How much plantain you eat? Huh? Huh?
Bre-nancy couldn’t work it out and quickly left the table and went for a walk outside.
